For centuries people have speculated about the wild things that might live deep within the woods. One popular theory is witches; people believe witches live in the forest and cast curses on those who enter. This may be rooted in the many fairy tales which depict the exact same thing. Some people also believe that wild creatures, such as the ones described in ancient folklore and mythology, hide within the trees, and seek to scare you. These creatures include everything from angels, to devils, to demons. Some people even believe woodland nymphs and goblins inhabit the forest. There is no way to determine what spirits are going to stick around and what spirits will move on. Some people who died a horrible, gruesome death are able to move on, but others who simply don´t know they died, or are in denial, will not move on. They will continue to walk among the living, sometimes trying to communicate, sometimes trying to torment.... Whatever the reason may be, these woods end up haunted by one or multiple ghosts, which makes for some pretty scary experiences for those who are still living. If you´re reading this, you´re probably one of the brave souls who aren´t scared of a little fright. But I warn you, these woods will give you more than just a little fright. Or, you may be one of the clever ones who know supernatural forces are nothing to be messed with, so you prefer to just hear about them instead.... Here is a preview of what´s inside: A haunted treasure hunt The devil´s tramping ground The devil of Pine Barrens Hoia Baciu - the forest of UFOs The headless ghost of Dow Hill Island of the dolls Much, much more! 1. Michael Brein´s Travel Tales Monthly bookazine, Issue No. 12, June 2015, contains among the best travel stories from Michael´s huge collection of about 10,000 travel tales that he has gathered in interviews with nearly 1,750 world travelers and adventurers during his four decades of travel to more than 125 countries throughout the world. Notice the plethora of programs on TV covering all aspects of the paranormal, such as ghost stories, UFOs, and monster creatures running around forests and woods? Well, actually ESP, psychic experiences of all kinds, synchronicity, and the like are what this issue of Travel Tales Monthly is all about. An ESP or other form of psychic or strange experience is indubitably happening to a traveler somewhere today. And so it is: there´s hardly a day now that a strange or paranormal incident of some sort or another is not happening to a traveler somewhere. Therefore, we´re very interested about the paranormal experiences that sometimes result in a very significant or meaningful event in our travel lives, so, naturally, we´re taking a lot closer look at the travel - paranormal or the travel - strange these days than we have ever done before. 1. West Virginia, the Mountain State, is a hotbed of paranormal activity. UFOs frequent the skies; ´´flying rays´´ have been spotted along the Ohio River; thunderbirds follow a flight path that runs through the state. Of course, there are the classic flying cryptids, the Flatwoods Monster and Mothman, both of whom left their marks in the Mountain State decades ago. The densely forested hills of West Virginia conceal a number of odd creatures. Bigfoot sightings regularly occur throughout the state. Other bipedal cryptids such as Sheepsquatch and dogmen lurk in the shadows as well. It is not hard to find an outdoorsman in the state who has spotted a mountain lion; many folks claim to have seen black panthers in the woods. That´s not all - devil monkeys, chupacabras, phantom dogs, and more stalk the hillsides. The strangeness in the Moutain State dates further back than most people imagine. Long ago, an enigmatic people, the Mound Builders, left strange earthworks behind. Hundreds of burial mounds, many containing the skeletal remains of giants, were left in present-day West Virginia. Another strange group, the ´´moon-eyed people´´, also known as the Azgen, supposedly inhabited large portions of the state before being driven out by the Shawnee. Could these ancient peoples, the Azgen and the Mound Builders, have something to do with strange phenomena today? West Virginia is home to many haunted locations. From battlefields to hospitals to hotels and all points in between, there is no shortage of ghost stories to go around. In this audiobook, Denver Michaels seeks answers to why West Virginia experiences a disproportionate amount of strange phenomena. Delving into the history of the state, he tries to understand what is behind the unusual activity, strange stories, and cryptid creatures of the Mountain State. 1. Language: English.
